Success is based above all on experience

Considerable experience in the conduct of particular projects is often a key factor for the success of clinical studies. We have been able to establish a wide range of investigations using the magnetic-marker-monitoring technique e.g.:

Investigations on locally applied, locally acting drugs in the gastrointestinal tract: Using the magnetic-marker-monitoring-technique it is possible to visualize in which region of the gastrointestinal tract a medicinal product, designed to exhibit a local action, delivers the active ingredient e.g. in the treatment ulcerative colitis. This information is essential for the evaluation of therapeutic efficacy and thus, may be decisive for the optimal development of dosage forms used in such indications. (Download poster / Manuscript in preparation)

Biopharmaceutical characterisation of enteric coated products: The behaviour of solid oral dosage forms with enteric coating is difficult to predict, especially when taken after meals. Here the magnetic marker monitoring technique can be used to reliably estimate the residence time of a formulation in the stomach as well as the time-point and location where drug delivery occurs. (Manuscript in preparation)

In-vivo dissolution of extended release forms: The magnetic marker monitoring technique enables this process to be closely followed e.g. in the case of medicinal products based on erosive matrix systems. Using this approach, information can be obtained on the in-vivo release profile thus providing the basis for an accurate in-vitro/in-vivo correlation. (see: Impact of the intragastric location of extended release tablets on food interactions, Journal of Controlled Release 108 (2005) 375-385)
